A Few Notes

William Nobuichi Ichinose was born on July 10th 1903 in Aiea Plantation Hawaii, the 3rd child of Yoshigoro and Tome and the 2nd eldest son.

In 1928 William (Bill) was married to Florence Kuuleikaimana Kaleo.

In 1930 William and Florence were living in Honolulu with their 1-year-old son William Jr.

William enjoyed and was quite good at golfing around the islands

In 1947 William entered into a partnership with Sam Ichinose to run a restaurant called the Bamboo Inn specializing in Japanese food/saimin.

In 1949 the Bamboo Inn was up for sale.

In a March 5th 1950 Newspaper article it states that William has been in the Automotive repair business as a mechanic with Schuman Carriage and Theo H. Davies and will now be part of the Von Hamm-Young Packard Hudson Sales Company. It also mentions William attended McKinley High school and was part of the 1923 championship football team.

Williams wife Florence

Florence Kuuleikaimana Kaleo

Florence was born on July 4th 1908 in Hana, Maui.

Her father was  James Makoleokalani Kaleo and her mother  Louisa Kauwa Tilton. It is interesting to note that going back several generations there is a connection to Hawaiian royalty. She had 11 siblings.

In 1932 she was listed as a student teacher at the Normal Training School in Honolulu.

In 1941 she was listed as a 5-year graduate of the University of Hawaii and was appointed in west Hawaii, Honaunau.

In September of 1943 she was teaching primary grades in Kamehameha schools.

In 1947 she was listed as treasurer of the Iolani parent--teachers group.

In May of 1950 She was elected to the executive board of the Oahu Education Association.

In 1968 Florence received honorary calabash bowls in recognition to 30 years of service in the Kamehameha schools.

On January 4th 2003 Florence passed away at home at the age of 94.

Her Father's Father's Father's Mother (Great Great Grandma)

Alapai Wahine. (High Chiefess), Birth 1765 • Hawaii, United States, Death 1841 • Hawaii, United States. was a princess of the Island of Hawaii and great-grandmother of King David Kalākaua and Queen Lydia Liliʻuokalani.[1][2] She was a Naha chiefess: the product of a rare father and daughter marriage uncommon in Hawaiian history.  Her father was a prince of the Big Island of Hawaiʻi, or 1st Aliʻi Nui of Kaʻū, an ancestor of the Queen Liliuokalani. Needless to say the family tree gets very confusing but Florence does have that Hawaiian Royalty in her past
